Honjou Toshiaki, also known as Pon, is a delinquent from Suzuran and forms part of the Ebizuka Trio with Hiromi Kirishima and Makoto Sugihara. He is recognized by his trademark face mask, which he later discards in an attempt to find a girlfriend.

Personality[]

Pon is characterized as a hotheaded individual who prefers physical confrontation over verbal exchanges, making him a valuable asset to the Harumichi Family. Like his comrades in the Ebizuka Trio, Pon develops a fast friendship with Bouya Harumichi, especially as they both share the common goal of seeking girlfriends.

Plot[]

Ebizuka Mid [1][]

In his middle school days at Ebizuka, Pon developed a close bond with his friends Hiromi and Mako. They considered each other as brothers and were known as the Ebizuka Trio. This period marked a significant event in Pon's life when he was involved in a bike accident, causing the loss of his two front teeth. To conceal this injury, Pon began wearing his iconic face mask [2].

Sophomore[]

The Trio, Pon, Hiromi, and Mako, gained notoriety and held the title of the strongest at Ebizuka. Despite numerous requests, they refused to take on any followers.

Senior[]

The Trio took on other middle schoolers from outside Ebizuka, defeating rivals such as Sahara's group from Seta Mid and Odajima's group from 3rd Mid. However, their views changed after a fateful encounter. When they challenged Suzuran students to a fight, Genjirou Katsuragi intervened. Hiromi's bold words caught Katsuragi's attention, leading him to rethink Suzuran's appeal. This encounter motivated Pon to join Suzuran along with Hiromi and Mako.

Suzuran[]

Freshman[]

At Suzuran, the Ebizuka Trio dominated their class and initiated a coup by defeating all their fellow freshmen. However, they soon discovered opponents stronger than Izaki Shun, who they looked up to during middle school. This prompted Hiromi to prepare for even more formidable challenges to conquer Suzuran.

Hiromi does not want the Ebizuka Trio get involved in the war between GPS and Serizawa's Army or the war between Suzuran and Housen [3]. However in the reboot version, the Ebizuka Trio lent their strength to GPS (to help their senior, Izaki Shun) in their battle against Serizawa Army [4].

Pon, Hiromi and Mako would also try and take on the man Katsuragi said was stronger than himself, who they call Rindaman. They were beaten with ease by Rindaman.

At the end of their first year, Pon, Kirishima and Mako encounter Hideto Bandou.

Sophomore[]

Pon and Mako had a dispute with Bouya when he attacked Hiromi. Following a coin toss, it was decided that Pon would not fight Bouya. He had to witness Mako's defeat at Bouya's hands [5]. Realizing that Bouya's strength was indispensable in facing Hideto Bandou, the four men—Pon, Mako, Hiromi, and Bouya—formed a united front and continued their close friendship.

The Ebizuka Trio later contributed to the creation of the Harumichi Family to contest against T.F.O.A., and they were cornered by Anzai Mitsuhiko and his followers but managed to defeat them [6].

During the Housen war, Pon was unexpectedly ambushed by one of Housen's fighters using a steel pipe, ultimately being incapacitated by Kikuchi Toshinao [7]. He subsequently aided Bouya in confronting the Bitou brothers, taking on a multitude of Housen combatants in the process.

Senior[]

Pon's junior, Iwashiro Gunji, joined Suzuran as a freshman. Gunji, also hailing from Ebizuka, admired Pon and the Ebizuka Trio. However, Gunji opined that the Trio had softened after coming under Bouya Harumichi's influence [8].

This led to a confrontation, with Pon challenging Gunji to a fight, ultimately emerging victorious [9].

Post-Suzuran[]

After graduating from Suzuran, Pon transitioned to work as a mechanic, managing his garage. He finds himself in comical situations alongside Fujishiro Takumi, whom he suspects of not introducing him to his female acquaintances [10].

Apocrypha[]

In Crows Explode, Pon, Hiromi, and Mako's name appeared in the Suzuran Combat's Rating. In this ranking, Pon and Mako held the tenth position, just below Hiromi [11].
